The tulips opened up their flowers today
Red and yellow in bright array.
They’d thought they might not bother this year
Since the snow weighed them down and laid them on the ground.
They drooped and moped for a week or so
Nursing their buds mid the wounded leaves.
But the periwinkle called “Come out and play!”
So the tulips opened up their flowers today.
